Stayed one night
The online pictures and guests reviews were spot on. The attention to detail in the design of the space to the decorating were done to perfection. We loved the colors, furniture, accessories and pictures, as well as the selection of coffee, and little things like microwave popcorn, smores, face mask and sleep mask. Communication with the host was super quick and check-in process very efficient. The ability to store our luggage in the morning before afternoon check-in was sincerely appreciated so we could spend the day exploring downtown and 4-hour Marine Tour Excursion .
The walk into town was easier than I thought it would be. It did rain during our one-day stay; however, we were prepared for it with appropriate rain gear, and a small but well thought out water proof backback that included two side pockets for storage of a water bottle and/or unbrella. I would definitely recommend investing into an actual travel unbrella instead of the small unbrellas that sell for five to ten dollars. The travel unbrella was much sturdier, easy to pack and provided more overall coverage.
Some tips about transportation - We arrived in arrived in Seward via cruise and were happy to be able to find transporation via Red Taxi to the Drunken Mermaid for drop off our luggage. The intersection leaving from the cruise terminal was busy at the time of our ship disembarkation but as mentioned above the walk into town to and from the Drunken Mermaid was very easy (didn't need to cross this intersection point for trips into town). Their is no Uber in Seward but there is Lyft and there was ride service available when we checked; however, we opted to walk even in the rain. If you are traveling from Seward to Anchorage vis bus transportation, chose pick-up at the Harbor 360 (hotel).
I would highly recommend the Drunken Mermaid for stay while in Seward (for 2 guests). The host(s) were great, the place super clean and the accomodations were excellent!
